On 13 September 1711, Ruth Tracy was born in Norwich, Connecticut. On 12 November 1730, she married Elijah Hyde. In 1742, Ruth and Elijah moved to Lebanon, Connecticut. Ruth died in Lebanon on 15 October 1773. She is buried in Lebanon's Trumbull Cemetery.

The same month that Ruth Tracy was born, the Tuscarora War began when Chief Hancock and his followers raided settlements along the Pamlico River; a raid in which 130 settlers where killed. The raid was in the Province of Carolina in present day North Carolina.
