Sarah Stanton was born in Canada during September 1843.1 By 1850, Sarah and her family were living in Orland, Illinois. Sometime between 1850 and 1861, the family returned to Canada and were living in Victoria, Canada West. By 1880, the family had returned to the United States and were living in Sigel Township which is located in Huron County, Michigan.2 She would spend the rest of her life in Sigel.

The Stanton family was Baptist.

Sarah married Samuel Williams on 15 August 1866. By 1910, Sarah had given birth to five children; four of whom were still living. After Samuel died in 1919, Sarah began living with her son Winnifred and his wife and children.

Sarah died on 26 June 1930. She was buried in Verona Township Cemetery in Huron county, Michigan.

1This month and date is taken from the 1900 United States Census. A family tree in Ancetry.com lists 1 September 1943 as her birth date in Ontario, Canada. However, I have not found independant confirmation of this. I believe that the 1849 date listed by Find-a-Grave is incorrect.

1Several dates can be found for Sarah's arrive in the United States: 1864 (1910 census), 1866 (1900 census), and 1875 (1930 census). Because Sarah was married in Bay City, Michigan in 1866, the 1875 date is unlikely.
