On 11 June 1881, Burtle Martin was born in Verona Township of Huron county in Michigan. She completed the seventh grade.

Around 1901, Burtle married Winnifred "Win" Williams. The couple resided in Sigel Township which is in Huron county. According to the 1910 census, she had given birth to four children but only three will still living.

Burtle died 12 July 1958.
