Sacred Heart of Jesus was the third Polish speaking parish in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The church, convent, and school were dedicated by Bishop Joseph Richter on Thanksgiving Day 1904. A new church building was begun in 1920. Masses were held in the basement of the new church from 1921 to Christmas Eve 1923 when the first mass was celebrated on the church proper. This is the church in which Michael Korenkiewicz and Mary Anna Liberacki were married in 1925.
