Phyllis Shirley Ann Kehrer

On 20 September 1923, Phyllis Kehrer was born in Ida, Michigan. She graduated high school in 1941 after which she worked on an assembly line Monroe Shocks in Monroe, Michigan.
In addition to working on an assembly line, during her life Phyllis also worked as an accountant for a business in Ida and for the Theater of the Sea in Florida. As a child, she assisted her parents selling produce, small farm animals, and flowers at the Detroit and Monroe markets. As an adult, she sold produce and flowers at the Midland Market and eggs to a local grocery. She was also an excellent seamstress and cook. Prior to her marriage, Phyllis was active in 4-H.
On 1 June 1957, Phyllis married Lawrence Berg. They were married in St. Joseph church in Ida, Michigan. After their marriage, Phyllis assisted her husband in farming from planting to harvesting corn, beans, and wheat. Her daughter Juliann Berg remembers that when she was in Nursing school her dress was all cotton. Each night Phyllis washed and ironed it and even polished Juliann's shoes so she could study.
Phyllis was a member of St. Gabriel Parish.
Phyllis died on 12 May 2017. Her funeral was officiated Fr. Thomas E. Sutton and held on 18 May 2017 in St. Gabrielle Parish in Kawkawlin, Michigan. She was buried in Kawkawlin's Calvary Cemetery.
