In 1901, the year that Henrietta Holtz died, the Pan American Exposition was held in Buffalo, New York. On September 6, President William H. McKinley was shot by Leon Czolgosz while he was shaking hands with people at the fair. He died a week later. On September 14, Theodore Roosevelt was sworn in as President of the United States.

Henriette Juliane Holz

Henriette Juliane Holz is Seth Stankowski's third great grandmother.

Henriette Juliane Holz was born in Germany on 14 December 1829. She emigrated to the United States in 1852 and settled in Friendship, Wisconsin. Shortly after her immigration, she married Charles Gralapp on 18 October 1852. They were married by Justice of the Peace Adolph Henning.

In July 1852, Julia--as she was known in the United States--and Charles gave approximately two acres of land to the German circuit of the Methodist Episcopal church.1

As of 1900, she had given birth to nine children; six of whom were still living. In 1900, Robert, one her children, and his wife and two children were living with Henrietta and her husband.

Julia remained a resident of Friendship until her death on 27 August 1901. She was buried in Friendship Cemetery in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin.

1There is an inconsistency in the dates of the gift of land and their marriage because the land gift should be after the marriage; not before. I have only seen transcripts of two documents. Although I am sure that both events took place, one or both likely did not happen on the date I have for them.
