Wojciech Chrystian Goszkowicz
(1859-1939)

Wojciech Goskowicz is Seth Stankowski's second great grandfather.

Wojciech Goszkowicz was born on 21 April 1859 in Sierakowitz, Kries Karthaus, Poland. We are not sure when he emigrated to the United States.1 We do know that in the United States he was known as Albert.

Wojciech married Juliana Goskowicz on 18 November 1890 in Sharon, Wisconsin. By 1895, he owned his own farm. He would work as a farmer throughout his life. Although he learned to speak English, Wojciech appears to have never learned to read or to write.2

Wojciech died in 19393 and is buried in St. Adalbert Catholic Church Cemetery in Alban, Wisconsin.

1Although the 1920 census lists his arrival date as 1892, it also indicates that he and his Wisconsin born wife were married in 1890; when he was 31 and she was 15. Also, we have evidence that his oldest son was born in Wisconsin in 1891.

2As of 1930, nine years before his death, he was still illiterate.

3Several sources list 10 April 1938 as the date of his death. However, 1939 appears on his gravestone.
