Eliza Brown was born in New York state during 1807. By 1840, she had married Harry Jefferson Wilcox. The family was living in Conquest, New York.

The 1860 census lists Eliza's occupation as "house keeper" and the 1870 census lists her occupation as "keeping house." No occupation was listed in the 1870 census.

Eliza died in 1876 and is buried in the Conquest Village Cemetery.

The year that Eliza Brown was born, the United States Congress passed "An Act to Prohibit the Importation of Slaves into any Port or Place Within the Jurisdiction of the United States, From and After the First Day of January, in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eight." The act took effect on 1 January 1908.
