John Bachko was born in Hungary during December 1844. He emigrated to the United States in 1848.

In 1870, John married Susan. We do not know Susan's maiden name.

In 1900, John was living in a rented home in Foster, Pennsylvania. He worked as a laborer in the mines. At that time, he could speak English but could not read or write the language.

John died on 19 February 1908.

In 1848, the year that John Bachko emigrated to the United States, gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill, in Coloma, California. This set off the California Gold Rush.
